Maine INBRE invites applications for three types of project awards: Research Projects (RPs); stand-alone Pilot Projects (PPs); and Collaborative Pilot Projects (CPPs). Eligible Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs) in Maine include: Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby Colleges; College of the Atlantic; Universities of Maine at Farmington, Machias, Augusta, Presque Isle, Fort Kent, and the University of Southern Maine; Southern Maine Community College; The University of New England. Research institutions in Maine eligible for funding as part of a Collaborative Pilot Project include: University of Maine at Orono; MaineHealth Institute for Research; The Jackson Laboratory; and the MDI Biological Laboratory. Note: Any faculty member who is currently funded by an IDeA grant (INBRE, COBRE, CTR) is not eligible for this INBRE funding.
This application is for a Maine INBRE Core Access Award, as outlined in the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis during the grant year (May to April) until funds are expended. The Core Access Awards Program provides grant awards/vouchers to researchers from institutions engaged in biomedical research and research training within Maine. Faculty from Maine IDeA institutions (those with INBRE or COBRE programs); independent, non-profit research institutions; or public and private undergraduate institutions are eligible to apply for funding. These awards, which provide up to $5,000, can be used to support biomedical research using any Core facility in a northeast IDeA state (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Delaware) or other IDeA states, if services cannot be found regionally. *The submitted application must be pre-reviewed and pre-approved by the Core Director providing the proposed services. *Note: Scientists whose research is directly funded by a COBRE/CTR grant may not receive funding under this program. *Note: Any post-doc or graduate school applicants must attach a letter of support from the laboratory PI. *Note: This funding cannot be used for student compensation.
